Here at Hancra Arts, we strongly believe in Fair Trade and import products that have been personally handmade for us following our strict fair-trade guidelines. We guarantee our customers excellent products with the peace of mind knowing they are actively addressing poverty, protecting the environment, and helping to end child labor.
Hancra Arts Limited was established in March 2014, based in Lighthorne Heath – a village and civil parish in Warwickshire, England, located some six miles to the south east of Leamington Spa.
We source handmade artwork directly from rural parts of East Africa which include, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and work with local craftsman with whom we have developed a long standing relationship. Dealing directly with the craftsmen, we ensure they get paid a fair rate for their work making our products wholly fair-trade. None of the products we sell are mass produced in sweat shops or unfair working conditions/environments and we guarantee no child labour is exploited or involved
We, the owners and directors were born and brought up in Kenya therefore have the knowledge, experience and understand the native language, which enables us to “buy as a local” with the local artists.
Growing up in the area gives us an upper hand in taking great care that all our strict standards are met before we purchase handmade products from the artist and also ensuring legal sources of natural resources (non- endangered woods/ animal products) have been used to create these handicrafts thus guaranteeing an environment friendly production.

Our ethical guidelines help the local communities keep the skills of weaving, beadwork and carving alive by teaching younger generations the skills needed to make these crafts. By working directly with artist and craftsmen, we ensure money is put back into these communities and these skills can then be developed and sustained.
Most of our goods are bespoke handmade hence each piece is a one of a kind and made by genuine African craftsmen and women who use this as their only source of income.
